Welcome Smilla McCormac, new SACC-NE Intern!

Smilla McCormac is studying her bachelor’s degree in Business and Economics at Lund University. Starting this august, Smilla joined the SACC-NE operational team as our Event & Marketing Associate.

Could you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?

I am originally from Stockholm, Sweden. After high school I lived in Paris for a year before moving back to Sweden and pursuing my bachelor’s degree in Business and Economics at Lund University. Besides my studies I have been a project manager in one of Lund’s student organizations, worked with marketing and finance and served as chairman of the board for the Redcross organization.

What made you want to join SACC-NE?

I grew up in a Swedish-American family and I have therefore always had an interest in living in the U.S. Working at a Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce was thereby a perfect opportunity for me to work and experience America. I have spent a lot of time in California where my family is located, so I was eager to explore new cities and the east coast. New England was simply the area I felt most drawn to!

What is your favorite thing about Boston?

It’s a very vibrant but green city! It has the feel of a big city along with beautiful architecture and parks. I really like walking everywhere, and walking around Boston is the best way to explore it in my opinion! Boston is also big on sports and has many great teams. Sport games are something I really enjoy going to, especially a Red Sox or Celtics game!
