Join us for INNOVATION FIKA with Recode 100 and World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer Karl Iagnemma on the topic of Autonomous Driving and the Future of Transportation.

SACC-Ne invites you  to join us for an Innovation fika on Friday, December 4  @ 9 AM.  In the second edition of our series Innovation Fika, SACC-NE has the honor of presenting Karl Iagnemma, President and CEO at Motional.

Start off your Friday with a freshly brewed coffee and discussion with Karl on the state of affairs for autonomous driving and the future of transportation.

But what is a fika? 
Fika is a social institution in Sweden and can be described as a coffee break that’s more about socializing than drinking coffee. It is an informal way of meeting co-workers, friends or new acquaintances, and somewhat of a daily ritual in Sweden.

About Karl Iagnemma, Ph.D. - President and CEO at Motional

Karl Iagnemma is an authority on robotics and autonomous vehicles. His commentary has been published and broadcast worldwide on Bloomberg, The Economist, CNBC, and BBC, among others. As former director of the Robotic Mobility Group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), his research resulted in more than 150 technical publications, 50 issued or filed patents, and numerous edited volumes, including books on the DARPA Grand Challenge and Urban Challenge autonomous vehicle competitions.

In 2017, Karl was named one of the “Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs” by Goldman Sachs and designated a member of the “Recode 100” list of technology influencers. Karl holds MS and PhD degrees from MIT, where he was a National Science Foundation fellow, and a BS from the University of Michigan, where he graduated first in his class.

Iagnemma co-founded nuTonomy, Inc. in 2013 and saw the company through acquisition by Aptiv in late 2017. nuTonomy was named one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies in 2018 and Iagnemma was selected as a 2017 Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum. He has previously been the President of Aptiv Autonomous Mobility, which is building the world’s safest and smartest driverless vehicle software. Karl is currently the President and CEO at Motional, a joint venture between Hyundai Motor Group and Aptiv Autonomous Driving.
