What Will We Eat In The Future?

On January the 13th, SACC-NE hosts a trendspotting event that will look into the growing industry of food, and highlight the latest innovation and upcoming trends for 2022. As Sweden is at the forefront of foodtech, we want to explore what U.S consumers will look for in the near future when it comes to their daily meals and nutrition and what potential market opportunities might open up. We wish to give our audience an outlook of what we can expect consumers to look out for in the future as well as what Swedish businesses who want to expand to the U.S market might expect in terms of the development within this field.

Our panel features Katie Stebbins, Executive Director Food & Nutrition innovation institute Tufts University, Lauren Abda, Co-founder at Branch Venture Group, Founder at Branchfood, Anastasia Trofimova, CEO & Co-founder of YOUR BEET, and Johan Jörgensen, Founder of Sweden FoodtechThe conversation will be moderated by Melina Viking, Event Director på Diversified Communications UK.

The event will be an online event that will take place on January 13, at 10 AM EST | 4 PM CET.

ABOUT KATIE STEBBINS

Katie Stebbins is the Executive Director of the Tufts Food & Nutrition Innovation Institute and was previously Secretary for Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship in Massachusetts, where she led state investment efforts in cybersecurity, health-tech, robotics, and advanced manufacturing. She is formally trained as an environmental/urban planner and worked in post-industrial cities for nearly twenty years addressing the challenges of economic disinvestment and the opportunities for systems change.

ABOUT LAUREN ABDA

Lauren Abda is the Founder and CEO of Branchfood, the largest community of food entrepreneurs and startups in New England, and Co-founder at Branch Venture Group, an angel network for investment in early-stage food startups. Prior to Branchfood, Lauren consulted for foodtech businesses in Boston and San Francisco, worked as an analyst for Salt Venture Partners LLC, a venture capital firm, focused on food startups, targeting content, commerce, and technology, and wrote reports on international food safety development initiatives on behalf of the Agriculture and Commodities division at the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Switzerland.

ABOUT JOHAN JÖRGENSEN

Johan Jörgensen is the founder of Sweden FoodTech and as such, he coaches nations, cities, big corps, and entrepreneurs regarding strategic business-building in the rapidly transforming food sector. If there ever was a foodtech nerd, Johan is the one. Often called Mr. Foodtech, he started his career at the beginning of the ’90s in the tech sector but has focused on foodtech since 2011.

ABOUT ANASTASIA TROFIMOVA

Anastasia is the CEO and co-founder of Stockholm-based female-founded impact foodtech startup YOUR BEET. Prior to launching the startup, Anastasia worked as a strategy consultant at BCG in Australia. After adopting a plant-based way of eating herself, Anastasia together with her co-founder recognized how few services there were available that helped simplify the transition to more plant-based foods for an average consumer. The pain points related to the transition were so globally universal - e.g. not knowing where to start or fear of missing certain nutrients, like protein, on a plant-based diet. Anastasia is currently working on building that service that will accelerate the global transition to more healthy and climate-friendly foods by simplifying consumers' everyday life.
